Look, one thing’s for sure. Not every single day of autumn is as chilly, and so why not ease up on the layers every now and again and throw on a long sleeved dress instead?  This is one of my favorite finds I shopped at one of the most unassuming stores. I spotted it and instantly saw potential. When it comes to style, it’s quite a personal journey. So why not personalize some of your finds so that they transform into what you want them to be. How I wore it:  I decided to wear the back of this dress as the front. I simply couldn’t let the detailing which adds such lovely texture go unseen and to waste. Initially a button up situation, I opted for off the shoulder vibes on this one. I also suggest wearing a belt at the waist if you don’t want a shift dress…

By now you have probably realised that I’m quite an advocate for simplicity with an edge. And by edge I’m talking about incorporating the latest trends into my day to day looks. For this particular look I have incorporated the bell bottoms trend which the hippie in me absolutely dies for. I have also incorporated the faux fur from my leather jacket which you can wear as a faux fur shawl during the day, and re attach it back onto the jacket as it gets cooler in the day. The beret again has found its way back into another one of my looks, and I think mainly because blonde vibes were the order of the day. I got this particular beret from my grandmother, so its a good 20 years old – love! You’re probably wondering too about these tiny vintage frames I’m wearing. This trend has trickled down…

Gone are the days where I shy away from bright and bold statement pieces. Instead, I’ve now learnt how to embrace them, work them MY way and pair them with staple pieces in my wardrobe to fit my personal style. I just want to journey with you through some of my looks for the H&M AW18 Campaign we shot in the mother city, Cape Town. As you may know, H&M’s new autumn/winter 18 collection is all about delicate dark florals, chunky knits and this season’s hottest denim looks.  What I wore:  My first look is very true to my personal style. Romantic, chic with a bit of an edge.  I absolutely fell in love with this black faux fur at first sight. This floral blouse adds a romantic touch to the overall look and perfectly serves my aestethic and need to keep warm this season.  My second look is definitely…

With winter fast approaching, I’d love to touch base on some of my favorite A/W18 trends which have caught my eye. These trends are simple enough to pull off, and include  accessible pieces you can play around with to suit any occasion, from your day to evening looks.  The Beret The beret and poor-boy cap have been my favorites for about 8yrs already. My gran was the very first person to introduce them to me as a practical and ready to wear accessory so to speak. The beret is somewhat a more chic alternative to the beanie and always gives your look a bit of a facelift. You can play around with varying colors and textures for the desired feeling/effect you’re going for. At times, I tuck some of my hair away when wearing a beret. And on such days, I have to wear statement stud earrings. On other days,…

One things is certain when it comes to this seasons trends, it’s all about monotone or monochromatic color palettes and the fine detailing in pieces. Just so we’re all clear, “a monotone or monochromatic color palette is one that is made up of different tints or shades of a single color.” So in this instance it would be a play on the color purple. Coat dresses are one of the pieces which I  categorize as minimalistic and timeless. They require little outfit co-ordination to “get it right” and still keep you cozy and comfortable all day. One glimpse at this coat dress and you can appreciate the simplicity in the tailoring as well as the carefully crafted detailing of the buttons on the sleeves.  Looking into the framework, you can see how it accentuates the lovely silhouette of the female body, giving off an hourglass shape, while still keeping things somewhat…

It’s quite an interesting time in fashion. There’s been quite a fusion of trends, as well as the return of older trends. For the longest time, I wasn’t quite sure about some of the returns… or rather their quality upon return. About the look:  For this specific look, I tried to infuse quite a few trends and actually bring them all together in a great light. The statement piece to this outfit is hands down the fitted skirt with a silver ring detail. I’m more of a golden girl, but paired with this layered necklace, the silver effect was absolutely working for me.  Moving up to the shirt, the bell sleeve gives the look much texture, and so do the pearls sewn on. It’s also not too much as the flare is only on the lower half of the shirt giving everything great balance. You can always switch up the…

It’s always great to see the fusion of technology and fashion come together in such an organic way as part of targeting strategies. American Swiss has done something I’ve only seen in full effect and unpacked in a movie I once watched starring Will Smith, titled Focus. For those who haven’t checked it out, I highly recommend it.  So basically ladies, you don’t have to overthink anymore about how you’ll be dropping the hint to your man. American Swiss has got you covered in that department. I mean we all know about shooting your shot, and we live in the days and times where there’s absolutely no shame in doing so. Also, let’s be frank here. Men can be quite clueless at times and a little push in the right direction doesn’t hurt. By doing this, you’ll ensure your man knows exactly what time it is, as well as exactly…

I took to Wikipedia for a clearer phrasing for what sustainable fashion is, and what it means for the environment. Sustainable fashion, also called eco fashion, is a part of the growing design philosophy and trend of sustainability, the goal of which is to create a system which can be supported indefinitely in terms of human impact on the environment and social responsibility. I believe it’s important that we continue to have conversations around sustainable methods of production in all industries and impose laws to help enforce better practices. To see a brand as big as H&M begin to join the movement is very impressive, especially considering their standing in influence in the industry of fashion. H&M Conscious Exclusive 2018 brings together powerful femininity and sustainable fashion innovation with recycled silver and ECONYL®. They’ve combined the latest in sustainable fabric innovation with designs inspired by the creative home of the…

I’ve always been bold when it comes to introducing moments of my life as princess diaries, so it isn’t a surprise I’d stumble upon a place such as this. I still consider myself a Durbanite and am really enjoying finding new jewels in the city of Johannesburg , one being Katy’s Palace Bar. The power of social media to connect us to people and spaces we relate to is quite appreciated. S/O to Astoldbytiffany.com for putting me on. Check out her  blog post to discover another side to the Kramerville jewel, the beautiful Restuarant and what’s on the menu. From breakfast, sides to wines… there’s something for everyone. Upon entry, I was more than anything impressed by the uniqueness of the venue. You instantly feel captured by another world the moment you set foot into this palace. Palace Bar – Quite the interesting paradox huh? From the art gallery, through…
