The maxi dress trend is one which many feel they can’t be a part of, simply because of their height. Well, let me tell you something – the maxi is not only for the tall and slim lady. Absolutely anyone can rock a maxi in style, provided you find a great fit which accentuates the best part of your body. I myself am really not as tall as I appear to be in images, and so this dress was a questionable choice for me at first. My first thought was that I was going to drown in all the material but to my surprise that wasn’t the case at all. I still feel as though the images don’t do justice to this dress! I love the combination of vibrant colors tossed up together and how light weight the dress truly is. I felt like I was literally floating in this…

Hey ladies! Over the past weekend I attended the She Invests event by the JSE Group. It’s always a good idea to open yourself up to gaining more knowledge on how to somewhat secure a better future for yourself and how best to take control of your investment decisions.  As part of the programme, an important talk on investing in your brand was delivered by Kelly Fung, Editor in Chief of Elle Magazine South Africa. She gave us an overview of the various ways to working our personal style into the work space. More importantly, how we should let our clothing choice help make our mark, support our view point and empower us.  One way of communicating the above mentioned is also through ones accessories. From the jewelry you choose to wear, the shoes and even your bag – it all speaks for you. I’ve come across an interesting article by Ackermans…

Hey guys! If you follow me on my Instagram, you’ll know just how much I’ve been embracing my bold side and loving red pieces in particular. These images are the second installment of the shoot styled by Zuki. What I wore: Nomi Velvet Pants and a red Carla Camisole from Diane-Paris ; Rio heels by Dolce Vita Inspired by classic lingerie, Carla camisole is cut from silk and cotton blend in a flattering V-neck silhouette. The languid drape works particularly well half-tucked into jeans or tailored pants. This look involved quite a bit of playing around with texture. From the faux fur, silk top, velvet pants, all the way down to the feathery heels. I genuinely enjoyed playing around with this look – I even changed my hair from sleek to big curls in between it all. By the time the images arrived, I actually didn’t know which hair I…

The very first time I was introduced to the name Diane Paris was through a Top Billing insert. It was in that very moment that I knew I would one day strut in their pieces. As time went by, I started paying even more attention to the brand which is worn by the likes of Kefilwe Mabote and model Rosette Ncwane. Diane is a ready to wear women’s brand rooted in Parisian femininity that is effortlessly chic and timeless Perfectly crafted for the petite frame, the Diane Paris clothing brand was launched in the french capital – where her fabrics are still sourced for further manufature in Poland. When I stepped into their showroom in Dunkeld, I felt warmth, comfort and effortless-chic! I then went on to select and try on some pieces that had caught my eye. For the very first time in a LONG time, I began to…

This look was literally never going to make it up on the blog. However, while I was thinking of an Instagram caption for one of these images, I thought of the caption “A hint of Spring in Autumn” and a series of thoughts instantly came to mind.  Perhaps this has got a lot to do with the fact that I’m currently reading a book titled “Talent is never enough” by John C. Maxwell. Although I’m only halfway through the book, I’ve already gained a wealth of knowledge. A lot of my beliefs have been re-affirmed, my mindset has been transformed, I’ve learnt much about myself. As a result, I now have such a different approach to life and the many unique situations I experience each day. Let’s not stray too far from what got us to this point – the outfit. I’m wearing a simple  pair of black skinny jeans,…

Look, one thing’s for sure. Not every single day of autumn is as chilly, and so why not ease up on the layers every now and again and throw on a long sleeved dress instead?  This is one of my favorite finds I shopped at one of the most unassuming stores. I spotted it and instantly saw potential. When it comes to style, it’s quite a personal journey. So why not personalize some of your finds so that they transform into what you want them to be. How I wore it:  I decided to wear the back of this dress as the front. I simply couldn’t let the detailing, which adds such lovely texture go unseen and to waste. Initially a button up situation, I opted for off the shoulder vibes on this one. I also suggest wearing a belt at the waist if you don’t want a shift dress…

By now you may have probably realised that I’m quite an advocate for simplicity with an edge. And by edge, I’m talking about incorporating the latest trends into my day to day looks. For this particular look I have incorporated the bell bottoms trend which the hippie in me absolutely dies for. I have also incorporated the faux fur from my leather jacket which you can wear as a faux fur shawl during the day, and re attach it back onto the jacket as it gets cooler in the day. The beret has once again found its way back into another one of my looks, and I think mainly because blonde vibes were the order of the day. I got this particular beret from my grandmother, so its a good 20 years old – love! You’re also probably wondering about these tiny vintage frames I’m wearing. This trend has…

Gone are the days where I shy away from bright and bold statement pieces. Instead, I’ve now learnt how to embrace them, work them MY way and pair them with staple pieces in my wardrobe to fit my personal style. I just want to journey with you through some of my looks for the H&M AW18 Campaign we shot in the mother city, Cape Town. As you may know, H&M’s new autumn/winter 18 collection is all about delicate dark florals, chunky knits and this season’s hottest denim looks.  What I wore:  My first look is very true to my personal style. Romantic, chic with a bit of an edge.  I absolutely fell in love with this black faux fur at first sight. This floral blouse adds a romantic touch to the overall look and perfectly serves my aestethic and need to keep warm this season.  My second look is definitely…

With winter fast approaching, I’d love to touch base on some of my favorite A/W18 trends which have caught my eye. These trends are simple enough to pull off, and include  accessible pieces you can play around with to suit any occasion, from your day to evening looks.  The Beret The beret and poor-boy cap have been my favorites for about 8yrs already. My gran was the very first person to introduce them to me as a practical and ready to wear accessory. The beret is somewhat a more chic alternative to the beanie and always gives your look a bit of a facelift. You can play around with varying colors and textures for the desired feeling/effect you’re going for. At times, I tuck some of my hair away when wearing a beret. And on such days, I have to wear statement stud earrings. On other days, I wear a…
