Last week I had the pleasure of being invited to the Michelangelo Spa in Sandton for the BABOR Skinovage relaunch. We started the day off with a champagne breakfast, followed by a brief of why we were there, as well as what to expect throughout the day. I must say, I was very excited for what followed next – The BABOR Flatlay Challenge. As a content curator, it gets quite tricky when you want to play around and take images of products during an event. At this particular event, we were afforded not only the time but the space to fully experience the brand as well as capture it to best suit our personal aesthetic as you may call it. S/O to the team that put this challenge together, I’m so appreciative of their efforts.
Only 30% of what your skin looks like is actually based on your genes
It’s no secret just how much convincing can be needed to get one to switch up their beauty products, especially once someone has found what they believe to work best for them. With that being said, I’m sure you’ll be glad to know that the BABOR range can be used in conjunction with the products you currently use and love. Now back to my story… So, for the very first time, I had the opportunity to experience a range of products by BABOR through an express facial. I absolutely loved how each of the products used addressed my skin concerns.
Skinovage is core and foundation of the BABOR brand. The Germans are known for being ahead of the edge with their cutting edge technology. The Skinovage range is based off of epigenetics.
My express spa treatment:
Step 1: Cleansing
In one of my recent posts, I stressed just how important it is to cleanse your skin. This allows your skin to remove the dead skin cells and absorb the product you put on your face thereafter. So yes, it only makes sense that my express facial would kick start with a good cleanse. HY-OL wash soothed over my skin as well as an appropriate Phytoactive on top, followed by the blending of the two products. Once that was done, I had a quick rinse off with cool water.
Step 2: Peeling
The second process enlisted a peeling product, which you can apply once or twice a week to your neck, face and decollete. Make sure you don’t cover your mouth and eye area during this process. Once the product was applied, it was gently massaged into my skin using circling movements. Rinse off wit lukewarm water.
Step 3: Ampoules
This is for lifting. Once the contents of the ampoule were poured out, the beautician used her fingertips to gently pat the fluid onto my face, neck and decollete until it was completely absorbed.
Step 4: Mask
The Vitalizing mask was placed on my face to seal the deal. I was advised to use a mask used each time I decide to scrub my skin. This mask is great to use once or twice a week, and should be left to work its magic for 10 minutes for it to take effect. Once done, simply remove with cosmetic tissue.
Step 5: Eye Care
For the eyes, a good moisturizing eye cream does the trick.
To wrap up the treatment, a vitalizing cream was used on my skin. PS: Don’t forget the sunscreen lovers! 😉
Once the facial treatments were done, it was time to call it a day. However, the coastal baby in me could never resist a good tan and dipping into warm waters! I had a good time in the heated pool and the jacuzzi while sipping on some fruit juice, loving my fresh glowing skin! Guess what – I made a vlog 🙂 Please take a moment and check out my YouTube Channel for a visual of what went down on the day.
